What you give us
- Your email address. If you sign in with Google, the name and profile picture Google returns, plus the tokens that keep you signed in.
- The text of whatever you submit for generation: the text extracted from a PDF you upload, or text you paste.
- Nothing else. There is no billing address, no phone number, and no profile beyond what signing in provides.
What the service produces and keeps
- The passages, questions, options, answers, explanations and evidence sentences generated from your document.
- Your work on them: answers, flags, timings, scores and unfinished drafts.
- One usage record per generation attempt: when it ran, whether the input was a PDF or pasted text, how long the input was, how long it took, how many model tokens it used, which model, and whether it failed. This is what the usage limit is counted from and what tells the operator what the service costs to run. It does not contain the text of your document.
Who else processes it
Running the service means a small number of other companies touch parts of the data. They are listed here in full.
- The language model provider (DeepSeek, over an OpenAI-compatible API) receives the text of the document you submit and returns the generated exam. This is the step that makes the product work; there is no way to generate an exam without it.
- Google, if you choose to sign in with Google.
- Resend, which delivers the sign-in link if you sign in by email.
- Polar, our merchant of record, if you subscribe. Polar handles the card details; we receive only a subscription identifier, a customer identifier and the date your access runs to.
- The hosting and database providers that run the application and store the records described above.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your data.
- We don't use your documents to train models.
- There are no advertising networks, analytics scripts or third-party tracking cookies on the site. The only cookies are the one that keeps you signed in and the one that remembers whether you chose English or 中文.
- We don't send you email other than sign-in links and, if you subscribe, whatever the payment processor sends about your subscription.
How long it's kept, and how to delete it
Exams stay in your account until you delete them. Deleting an exam removes its passages, questions, your answers and your results.
Two things deliberately outlive that. The text extracted from the document you originally submitted is stored separately and is not removed when you delete an exam — email support@paper2exam.com and it will be. Usage records are also kept, because they are what the usage limit is counted from and what running costs are worked out from; they do not contain your document's text.
To delete the account and everything attached to it, email support@paper2exam.com from the address you signed up with.
Where it's stored
The application and its database run on servers in Singapore, with a deployment in Hong Kong serving visitors in mainland China. The model provider and the other processors listed above run their own infrastructure in their own regions.
Changes
If what the service does with data changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves.
